The Block Island Inshore Fishing Tournament is a much-anticipated annual event that celebrates the spirit of saltwater fishing. It brings together passionate anglers and charter boat operators for an exciting weekend of fishing off the stunning waters of Block Island. Taking place on the weekend of July 26-27, 2025, the tournament kicks off early on Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m. and continues until noon on Sunday. The fishing area spans an extensive range, encompassing waters south of the Jamestown and Newport Bridges, reaching approximately fifteen miles south of Block Island.

Which species can anglers target in the tournament?
This tournament is a multi-species competition featuring nine popular fish: fluke, black sea bass, striped bass, bluefish, bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, mahi, bonito, and false albacore. Anglers can enter various divisions designed to accommodate different skill levels and styles of fishing. These include boat, shore, and fly fishing divisions, alongside opportunities for youth and team participation. There’s even a photo contest with categories celebrating the most scenic views, the best catch photos, and the best team photos. Participants can conveniently document their catches through photo submissions using the GotOne app, making it easy to share their achievements.
