Taste Greater Zion at the Downtown Farmers Market
Over 50 vendors bring produce, meats, cheeses, and handmade goods to Vernon Worthen Park—plus live music in the heart of downtown.
Event details
Every Saturday morning year-round, Vernon Worthen Park transforms into a community gathering spot where regional growers, ranchers, and artisans spread out under the shade of downtown trees. The Downtown Farmers Market runs May through October from 8 a.m. to noon, and November through April (closed January) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 300 South 400 East in St. George. Founded in 2007, this free weekly event now features over 50 vendors from Washington and Iron Counties selling locally grown produce, pasture-raised meats, raw cheeses, handmade goods, and artisanal products. Live music starts at 9:30 a.m. on the park’s green grass, creating a soundtrack for browsing and shopping. This is a pet-friendly event where families spread blankets on the lawn, kids run between vendor stalls, and locals stock up on ingredients for the week ahead.
Families with kids, foodies looking for farm-fresh ingredients, and anyone who enjoys outdoor markets will appreciate the variety here. You’ll find everything from certified organic vegetables and artisan bread to handmade soaps, jewelry, and crafts. Food vendors offer ready-to-eat items for breakfast or lunch, making this an easy Saturday morning stop before other activities. Arrive by 9 a.m. in peak season (May-October) for the best selection before popular items sell out. Parking is available in lots near Vernon Worthen Park, with additional street parking on surrounding blocks (arrive early on busy Saturdays). The market occasionally closes for major downtown events like marathons and Ironman competitions, so check the schedule if visiting during race weekends.
Weather varies dramatically by season. Summer mornings (May-October) start pleasant (70s) but heat up quickly, so bring sunscreen, hats, and reusable bags for purchases. Winter mornings (November-April) can be cool (40s-50s), perfect for hot coffee while browsing vendor stalls. The park provides shade under mature trees, though sun exposure increases as the day progresses. After the market, explore downtown St. George’s galleries, shops, and cafes along Main Street, all within walking distance. Pair your farmers market visit with a morning hike at nearby Snow Canyon State Park (15 minutes away) or an afternoon at Sand Hollow State Park for swimming and paddleboarding. St. George vacation rentals provide easy access to both the weekly market and the outdoor recreation that makes Southern Utah a year-round destination.
