Event details

Hot Springs, Arkansas, has been a destination since the 1800s, when the federal government set aside the thermal spring corridor that became Hot Springs National Park, the oldest federal reservation in the United States. The same geography that drew spa visitors in 1832 now surrounds Magic Springs Theme and Water Park, which opens its 2026 season on May 3 and runs through August 9 at 1701 East Grand Avenue in Hot Springs. Set in the Ouachita Mountain foothills, the park pairs a full theme park with a water park and adds a summer concert series on select Saturday evenings that brings national touring acts to its outdoor stage.

The theme park opens May 3 on weekends only through Memorial Day, then shifts to daily operations beginning May 27. The water park follows one week behind, opening May 10. The season’s most anticipated addition is the concert series. On July 5, country artist Niko Moon performs with special guest Austin Snell. The concert venue opens at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:00 p.m. Blankets and lawn chairs are strongly encouraged for the outdoor venue. Additional concert dates are released on a rolling basis through the summer, and both concerts and park admission can be booked on the Magic Springs website.

On the Rides and in the Water

The theme park side covers roller coasters, family rides, and carnival-style attractions calibrated to a range of thrill levels. The water park offers a wave pool, tube slides, a lazy river, and a dedicated younger-children section with smaller splash features. Both areas are included in standard park admission, which is available at the gate or in advance online. Season passes represent meaningful savings for families planning multiple visits across the summer. Height requirements apply to the major coasters; check the park website before your visit.

If You’re Going with Kids
The water park’s younger-children area keeps the smallest visitors occupied independently while older kids take on larger slides. Pack sunscreen, a waterproof bag for phones and valuables, a change of clothes, and water shoes. Outside food is generally not permitted. Lockers are available for rent near the water park entrance.

Hot Springs and the Lakes

Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine, both a short drive from Magic Springs, are the area’s primary waterfront destinations. Lake Hamilton’s developed shoreline supports several marinas, waterfront restaurants, and boat rental outfitters. Treasure Isle Aquatics on Lake Hamilton rents pontoons and ski boats on a half-day and full-day basis, pairing naturally with a morning on the water before an afternoon at the park. Lake Catherine State Park, south of Hot Springs on Highway 171, offers swim access, a sandy beach, and cabin rentals in a wooded lakeside setting.

Where to Stay

Hot Springs has lodging concentrated along Central Avenue near Bathhouse Row, in the historic district, and along the Lake Hamilton waterfront. For a stay that keeps you close to both the park and the city’s historic center, a historic home near downtown Hot Springs on Lake.com puts you within easy range of the bath district, Lake Hamilton, and Magic Springs. Book summer weekends at least four to six weeks in advance, as the Niko Moon concert weekend in particular is expected to draw demand across all accommodation types.
